One of the objectives of Pets Missing in Action web site is to make this resource open to all people with lost or found pets and let these individuals post their information in an open format. Regrettably, such a system is abused by a few.
Pets Missing in Action is not affiliated with nor endorses any person claiming to be a pet detective or any fee for service organization. All Pets Missing in Action services are free. We do not condone the actions of people or organizations that may contact you because of your listing on this site and offer to charge a fee to find your pet. If you are contacted by such a person, beware of their claims.
If you are offering a reward for anyone that finds your pet, here are a couple of common sense suggestions. First, never give anyone money before you get your pet back. There are scam artists that would be happy to take your money and run. Second, when someone contacts you and claims to have your pet, make arrangements to exchange your pet and the reward money (if offered) in a trusted public place, such as your veterinarian's office. Never arrange to met someone alone, at your home, or theirs for that matter. Last, be careful not to give out too much personal information about yourself. These guidelines are offered as mere suggestions. Check with authorities or experts in your area for other safe ways to make an exchange.
